Valerie Wolf Gang presented Symbioparasitica, an interactive VR poetry project, as part of Poetry Expo 24 on 28 February 2024.
The project transforms the viewer into an active co-creator of a virtual landscape. Each action leaves a permanent trace in a changing virtual forest, opening questions about sustainability, interdependence and the vulnerability of human existence.
Using a VR headset and a Leap Motion sensor that maps the participant’s hands, visitors move through a forest that gradually transforms into human skin while listening to the artist’s poetry. The immersive environment connects the human body, technology and the natural world.
The project was presented within the Poetry Expo themes Climate Crisis and Poetry and Technological Innovations in Literature.
