A strange virus has come to this world.
We need to run, hide, survive. Are we still sane?
The world upside down.
Nothing will ever be the same again.
ABOUT THE FILM
The coronavirus COVID-19 public health measures for mitigating the risk and impact pandemic influenza has made the film director Valerie Wolf Gang stuck in Germany, where she came a couple of weeks ago to work on a project. She was supposed to fly back home to Slovenia, but the pandemic started while she was in Germany, and all her flights have been canceled, borders closed. Now she has to stay abroad, in complete social isolation, away from family, friends, colleagues, and wait for the possibility to return home.
While she waits in Germany for the pandemic to pass, and the borders to open again, she is trying to fulfill her days with experimental formats and various creative processes. She is experimenting with the 360° camera recordings with which she is researching its possibilities, limitations, and advantages in the 360° film narrative options and finding different solutions. The exciting results are shown in this short film which she titled “The Corona Shelter” and in which she expresses her very intimate view towards the current situation and her mental state; sharing the insight in her deep mental state of how it affected her life, work, and concerns connected with the global pandemic situation.
She is alone, socially isolating herself, and finding inspiration in a safe environment in nature where she writes poetry, brainstorms her ideas, and reflecting on a current world situation that will for sure influence our society in the future.
The result is the construction of a shelter in the wilderness, which is a metaphorical gesture of building a new world, through which we will all walk out in the new reality—a new decade with changing social patterns, human society 2.0.
