Documentary film Kombinat shows the history and the beginning of the formation of female choir Kombinat and the purpose of their functioning. Kombinat was founded in 2008 in Slovenia and their constitutional motto is: “We sing the songs of rebellion from all over the world in authentic languages.” After 5 years of their performance the Slovenian nation started rebellion against Slovenian government. The question is if female choir Kombinat was visionary back then and foretold the future. They were present on all congregations and helped unite people through the rebellion songs. Through the years Kombinat became well known in the Slovenian society. With the documentary we see the opportunity to spread the word about the problem and open a discussion about the rebellion and songs that help people unite in this kind of situation. Documentary also shows the role of women and their ability to gather and spread their ideology with volunteer work and self motivation. Women come and gather from different environments, from different jobs and background and aged from 20 to 55 years, voluntarily. Ksenija Jus, member of female choir Kombinat, wrote a song Pesem upora (Rebellion song) which was performed by Kombinat and it immediately became huge sensation and main theme song for rebellions and protesters in Slovenia. “We are united in song and believe that resistance is one of the basic human rights.”
