“Drink coffee with me in Venice” is a performative durational video which shows the subjective view of the artist drinking coffee in Venice on the famous San Marco’s square. Artist Valerie Wolf Gang invites the public to join her on the cup of coffee in Venice and enjoy a moment of silence and stillness to think about your inner thoughts and for a moment forget about the absentmindedness of life. Meanwhile drinking coffee and relaxing we can observe the stressful life in the background which is blurred in the video, so the only focus we have is the coffee. Our concentration is strictly measured by the coffee we drink. While we enjoy drinking virtual coffee with the artist, we can notice that the day gets darker and at the end of the video we can see that the atmosphere changed: surroundings got darker, but the lights became brighter and so are our thoughts – deeper and more aware of ourselves. The transformation begins with the first sip of the coffee and as Elizabeth Barkley put out: “I will never forget experiencing Venice for the first time. It feels like you are transported to another time – the art, music, food and pure romance in the air is like no other place.”

Video will be screened in the urban open air video gallery in Ljubljana “Video Wall” – Opening: 24th of October at 20:00 (read more here).
